Paddle making workshop – 2025 Northern Ireland Greenland Games

This is a two day course, running on Friday 26th and Saturday 27of September, aimed at providing tuition and support in the carving of a Greenland paddle.

The course is being run at the Share Centre in conjunction with the 2025, Northern Ireland Greenland Games.

Participants will not be involved in other Greenland Games activities during the day but will be free to take part in completion events on Sunday the 28th.

Description

This is a two day course aimed at providing tuition and support in the carving of a wooden paddle.

The two days focus on making a Greenland paddle.

At the beginning of the course participants are provided with a paddle blank and at the close they take away their finely fashioned paddle. The aim is, of course, to leave with a finished piece but this is dependent on the participants progress over the two days. To date no participant has left without a finished paddle.

  • The Greenland paddle on shaft length, loom width and blade width
